Chamonix Tourist office also offer a car pool scheme on their website. It appears to be quite well organised with signs up at bus stops, showing it to be a carpool pick up point.
There are free pages on cham74.com for lift share enquiries

Information about car sharing in Europe
I will be honest and admit my research is very limited. I typed into Google 'carpooling france' and came up with a number of websites offering them all over France and Europe. I found some good information on a site called
1) Payment If you ask for a contribution towards costs from your fellow carpoolers, then in order to remain classified as a carpool you can charge, in total, no more than the real cost of the journey. The real cost seems to refer to the amount of petrol actually used and tolls only.
If the total charged is any more than this cost then you are a transfer service and need the correct authorisation and insurance.
There is a useful calculator thing on kazoo if you want to find out how much your journey will cost you and so how much you can charge (or expect to pay)
2) Insurance All car insurance covers liability for passengers. However, if you are charging these passengers then you need to let your insurance company know what you are doing. If you are charging more than the real cost then this may invalidate your insurance.
The advise seems to be to let your insurance company know and find out what cover you have for carpooling as each policy may be different.
3) Crossing the border into Switzerland No idea if this is an issue. I know transport operators need separate authorisation to cross the border but could find nothing for car pooling. Maybe another question to ask your insurer.
4) Code of Conduct This Karzoo website had a charter that the user had to sign up to. It covered areas such as highway code, safety, payment, insurance, comfort.
Maybe a useful basis to set some sort of ground rules so everyone knows what to expect.
